This week, the U.S. Senate is scheduled to debate and vote on the federal administration’s newly released Energy Emergency Declaration.
With the administration’s emphasis on fossil fuels, and the Declaration’s exclusion of solar and wind power under its definition of energy, Pennsylvanians may wonder what the Declaration could mean for our state and our electric bills.
Among energy professionals, there are those who claim that the most reliable and resilient energy grid is one powered primarily with renewable sources. These experts point out that renewables are the fastest route to new electrical power, will deliver energy at the lowest cost, and provide the best option not only to increase energy security.
Before voting to approve this Energy Emergency Declaration fast-tracking oversight for 600 projects, Senators should be cautious and deliberative, hearing all the evidence and exercising their own judgment, thereby fulfilling their oath to support and defend the Constitution.
